Brown rice is a whole grain food that provides a healthy dose of disease fighting antioxidants. White rice does little to fight diseases because it lacks these nutrients. In fact, white rice may actually be bad for your health.

Lignans are believed to reduce cancer risk by helping prevent tumors from forming. They also protect cells from damage caused by free radicals (oxidative stress). Free radicals cause cell damage and contribute to aging and chronic diseases.
